My Harry Thomas Memorial Speech

I have nothing good to say about Harry. At least that’s what Harry would be saying about himself if he were here. He would often remind me there in no good thing in the flesh.

Romans 7:18, 

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing

 Jeremiah 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

We would often Butt heads on our theology view differences.

But TIME always seemed to prove Harry Correct.            

The last head butt occasion happened a few months ago – I ended up calling Harry, Sobbing, apologizing and asking for forgiveness.

In true Harry fashion, he replied, You have nothing to apologize for.

Harry was truly a humble man of God.

Harry lived his life by one of his favorite scripture.

“Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.”

Psalm 19:13 KJV            

Another favorite of his –

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV

Harry never wanted to be presumptuous when praying for a healing, but always waited for the Holy Spirit to Guide him.

Harry would often say, I pray before I pray.                          

In all honesty, I have a lot of Great things to say about Harry.

He made the best decision of his life to be lead by the Holy Spirit and not let his knowledge of Gods Word puff him up.

He viewed himself as a servant and would always give God the Credit and the Glory. 

I remember meeting Harry for the first time when I attended his Bible Study. I was nervous and sat in the back of the room. As the Study ended, I tried slipping out the door un noticed. Harry came over quickly and extend his hand and thank me for coming. His Sincere ness and love drew me in.

Aka The Holy Spirit                  

I started attending his bible studies regularly. He began to counsel Jeannie and I.

Anybody who has been in one his Counsel Sessions for more than 5 minutes, knows he doesn’t care about your feeling.

I feel like …. He would stop you in your tracks and say – I don’t care what you feel like..   Then go on to explain how this is going to work out.

He is not there to make friendship with you. He is there to help you.

He is a General in Gods Army doing his job.         

Now he may not have been interested in Friendships as his main goal, But God was forming priceless friendships through Harry.

Listening to Harry Stories – God has blessed him with many awesome friendships.

I for one am proud to say Harry was my Friend.

I love him and will miss him deeply.
